Alabama Village
, located in Mobile, Alabama, is considered one of the most crime-ridden communities in the southeastern United States. In recent years, forty percent of the city’s homicides occurred in this community and in one month alone, twenty separate homes were firebombed in an on-going drug war.

Alabama Village is not unlike other communities, where the lack of faith, love and hope result in an unpleasant reality. Gang life, drug sales, and violence are common here. However, because of our location in the heart of this neighborhood, we have the opportunity to reflect Christs light in an otherwise dark community.

We can be sure that the victory of Christ can defeat any evil this world can offer.

Activities

Christian volunteers from various churches offer vacation Bible school and daily outdoor activities throughout the summer for local children. Cleanup teams clear vacant lots, cut grass, collect trash and do light construction work.

During the school year, weekly Bible studies, neighborhood outreach, and after-school programs continue. Free meals are provided at all events. Off site activities are also offered including picnics, movies, and field trips.

As the Lord provides, we can envision purchasing additional lots for Habitat for Humanity homes, sponsor college scholarships, enhance after school programs and be available for the Lord as He desires. Most importantly, His love will be shared through the teaching of His Word and through building genuine relationships.
